Mental Health and Motherhood: Part Two
Mental Health and Motherhood: Part Two
In part two of this episode, Bassam, Lana and Lauren continue discussing new motherhood, resources for new mothers, and the toll giving birth can take on both your body and mind.
Lauren Jones is a Certified Lactation Counselor and mother to new baby, Hartwin. She became a CLC in 2017 when she was working for WIC at the Health Department. She now runs her own lactation counseling business called Realistically Fed that she opened in 2021.
Realistically Fed provides virtual and home visiting lactation support services. Lauren teaches free breastfeeding classes through Be Well @ NPL at many of the NPL branches in Nashville and offers free breastfeeding support groups in Davidson County. Her goal is to normalize breastfeeding in public and in general, educate all families about breastfeeding before they begin their infant feeding journeys and provide a safe space for families who are breastfeeding to come together in community. She also acts as an unofficial resource hub for all things mom and baby related (baby items, postpartum supplies, social services, breastfeeding/ prenatal education and support, etc.).
To connect with Lauren or get help/ give help to expecting mothers, you can email her at lauren@realisticallyfed.com. To sign up for a free class or support group visit www.realisticallyfed.com/events!
